A career in finance

Having one of LoveWorkLife’s directors as an ex-financial services professional, gives us a unique position in order to relate to both clients and candidates – providing a tailored and transparent service. Our consultants have either worked within the finance sector or have made the industry their subject matter. We are able to understand the technical aspects of a role, but also the cultural differences that exist from one organisation to another – a very understated, but important variable within the recruitment process!

Due to our wealth of experience in sourcing candidates across the various sectors within Finance, we are well positioned to utilise our networks to recruit for major global investment and retail/commercial banks, asset management firms, insurance companies, private equity houses, challenger banks, fintechs, wealth management and industry software providers.

If you have a couple years’ experience or seeking that next senior challenge, we are keen to speak with you to establish a new relationship!

Arron Ramsay Recruitment Consultant - Finance

Arron Ramsay

Recruitment Consultant - Finance

Like the other 99% of people who have graduated with a Degree in History, I left university with a totally undefined career path (along with a severely damaged liver and an unnecessarily large stack of Eric Hobsbawm books). I joined the London Branch, LoveWorkLife in December 2015 as a Support Consultant covering Sales and Finance. From the get-go, I was involved in regular candidate and client engagement where I quickly recognised my passion for building relationships, understanding business requirements and assisting clients with all things recruitment.
In April 2016, I was re-stationed to the Luton Branch of LWL where I assisted and developed a successful RPO project. Currently, I am heavily involved in account management, business development and growing a relatively new office.
Outside of work, I am a keen football fan and player still playing regularly for my local side. When I’m not playing or watching football, you’ll find me spending time with friends & family usually sipping from an extra cold Guinness.

I spent 9 years working within the Financial Services industry, where I worked for a range of institutions such as HSBC and Barclays. I started at a local business level, moving in to senior management roles. As the Head of Strategic Development at Aldermore Bank, I was pivotal in constructing and implementing new market propositions to the Invoice Finance industry. I have been consistently a top performer, and have been successful in a range of environments from large global corporates to start ups and fast paced growing businesses. I have a unique blend of experience within credit risk, relationship management and strategic development and it is these experiences that have enabled me to build an extensive network within the financial services sector. Away from my day job, I can be found spending time with my young family. However, I am notorious for my love affair with sport and can regularly be found avoiding the treadmill at the gym, or in front of satellite television in the early hours watching live cricket or boxing.

Q1: Name 3 things you'd take with you on a desert island?
Solar powered television, the biggest satellite dish and a solar powered phone so that I can call for a lift once I had finished watching the football in peace.

Q2. If you could have dinner with 1 person (dead or alive) who would it be?
My late brother.

Q3. What 1 thing makes you an outstanding individual?
I care.

Q4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Professional sportsman...I am still growing up so never too late :)

Q5. If you won £100k tomorrow, what's the first thing you'd spend your money on?
Deposit on a couple investment properties for my kids.

Q6. If you could only ever read one book in your life, what would it be?
Not a huge fan of reading but I would most likely read about the wonders of the world so that I could plot my global adventure.

Q7. What's your favourite film?
Hmm...so many...lets go with the Matrix, makes you question a lot of things in life...and can I add Vanilla Sky, love the concept!

Q8. Who do you admire the most in your life?
Apart from my wife and kids who are superhuman (we are like the 'Incredibles'), I would have to say my parents who despite everything life throws at them are always there for us.

Q9. If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Ooooh has to be the ability to time travel.

Q10. What do you love most about your work life?
The people I work with and everyday is different or new challenge.
